Project AquaHarvest: Integrated Aquaponics for Fish and Vegetable Production

Objective: To create a self-sustaining aquaponics system combining fish farming and vegetable cultivation.

Overview:
We designed and built an aquaponics system for a cooperative of farmers in Ibadan. Fish tanks and vegetable beds were integrated, where fish waste provided nutrients for plant growth, and plants naturally filtered water for the fish.

Key Results:

• Produced 2,000 kg of tilapia and 10,000 kg of vegetables annually.
• Reduced water usage by 70% compared to traditional methods.
• Generated additional income for cooperative members by diversifying produce.

Impact: AquaHarvest showcased the synergy between aquaculture and agriculture, paving the way for resource-efficient farming methods.
